SYNOPSIS

Alice, Micaela, Sérgio, Paulo, Bruno, Tiago and Catarina are young adults. The world calls them generation Z, Improvised or Trapped.

But the story doesn’t star with them. Alice, Micaela, Sérgio, Paulo e Bruno had a friend in common – Patrícia. She was light, a dream and the will to live in the capital and build her life there. But an accident, a fatality, took her too soon. Her death united her friends and made them a united group.

They have in common the fact that they have more academic education, but they struggle on getting a stable job and a financial stability that allows them to leave their parents’ nest. But they’re optimistic and compassionate. They believe that in five years they will be earning more and that it is possible to have less injustices in the world. They do not fear criticism, they enjoy receiving feedback on their performance and they do not settle for less (than what they believe to deserve). At the end of the day they want everything: to accomplish their projects and dreams, to have money and comfort, but also a better world, greener and more equitable. And they have chosen Lisbon to live their stories.

They came back to the city centre where they work and live, together. They love the city and they want to make their dreams come true there. Tiago is looking after a small building, where Alice and Micaela live, and where they plan to open a vinyl record’s store, in a space that used to be an electro domestics’ store, until the pandemic crisis shot it down. Catarina works in the city, driving tourists and making guided tours. Bruno is a fan of scooters and electric bikes, his first choice every time he has to go to the Hospital where he works at or to spend some time with his friends. And Paulo works on a local business, a grocery store in the neighbourhood, which still preserves the contact with the client as its best weapon for the business.

Ten days after her death, the five of them get together to open a jar with papers, full of dreams and goals that Patrícia left for them. Among the innocent and positive dreams, there are some more obscure and violent, that make them look into themselves, as well as to her friend, in a very different way. It is in this mist of light and darkness that we get to know better Patricia’s friends and their stories and challenges, and the moments they have lived with her. Reminding them of the almost unbridgeable challenges and battles – both moral and physical.

All the tasks involve somehow Lisbon, or a way to look at the city which Patricia loved. The city where she was happy. Either on the terrace where she most enjoyed looking at the city, a street

where she kissed a boyfriend, a vintage store where she enjoyed spending hours at or a new place, a new zone of the capital – every place has a meaning. To understand Patrícia, her friends will have to walk the city. And when they realise that her death wasn’t accidental, it will also be in these places that they may find the answers to understand what happened to Patrícia. To solve a mystery that could only have happened in Lisbon.

The List is a story of a group of youngsters that live, love suffer and fight to realize their dreams in a city full of life. A narrative where the older and younger habitants of Lisbon, the traditional activities and those who were born thanks to the touristic boom, the most emblematic spots and those that only a few know of mingle to create this story’s world. A story that is at the same time cosmopolitan and local, bright and dark and for that reason, creates several shades in a plot that joins both drama, police, humour and of course, friendship.

The urban and vibrant city, which combines the story with the contemporaneous, the Portuguese Fado and the hip hop, the statues and gardens, the murals and the graffittis, the bicycles path and the sidewalks are the unmissable scenic elements in The List. Building the ideal scenic space for these character’s stories.
