30 years ago, the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira was invited to make the project of 4 neighborhoods in 4 distinct European cities: Oporto, The Hague, Berlin and Venice.
Nowadays, with a Pritzker Prize in his career, Álvaro Siza re-visited the neighborhoods, entered the homes of the inhabitants, talked to them, heard compliments and complaints. The variety of people living within the walls he projected tells us much more about the diversity of people inhabiting Europe today.
NEIGHBOURS is a series of 4 forty minute documentaries, each one shotin each of these specific neighborhoods: Bairro da Bouça – Oporto (Portugal); Schilderswijk – The Hague (The Netherlands); Giudecca –Venice (Italy); Bonjour Tristesse – Berlin (Germany)
This series was exhibited as a part of the Bienal Architecture Exposition of Venice that took place in Campo di Marte, Giudecca in Venice from May 28th till November 27th, 2016.
