SYNOPSIS

Between right and wrong, there is love.

Nanda and Leo experience an intense but fleeting passion in Brazil. Pregnant and believing Leo has abandoned her, Nanda returns to Portugal, only to face her mother’s rejection. After a serious accident and though her obstetrician, Helena, does everything she can to save Nanda and the babies, Nanda dies after giving birth to her twins. Her last wish is for them to be named Francisco and Clara. When the little girl is diagnosed with Down syndrome, her prejudiced grandmother, Marta, rejects her without hesitation. She tells the rest of the family the baby girl did not survive and only Francisco is taken home. Marta’s decision breaks Helena’s heart and she decides to adopt Clara, in whom she will find the refuge to heal from the past.

Years later, Francisco and Clara lead completely different lives, not knowing they are twins. Far from knowing he’s their father, Leo proposes to Constança, though he can’t help but still look for Nanda. It will be through Olivia, Nanda’s best friend, that Leo will find out the truth. Consumed by guilt, he will decide to do everything in his power to get the custody of his children, threatening to shatter the love and connection in both Helena’s and Nanda’s parents’ world.
