EMMY WINNER FOR BEST TELENOVELA at the 39th INTERNATIONAL EMMY AWARDS

SYNOPSIS

The story flashes back to 25 years ago, when sisters Inês and Diana were fighting over a doll and fall into a river, during a family picnic. They were swept away by the impetuous currents but their father was able to save the eldest, Inês. He drowned while attempting to rescue his youngest daughter Marta, whose body is never recovered, while their mother, who is pregnant with a boy, watches the tragedy.

Back to nowadays we meet Inês, a successful young woman with a strong personality, kind-hearted and always ready to help others. With a degree in hospitality management, she owns the restaurant M, in partnership with her mother. However, something torments her, since she always felt guilty for the death of her sister. Her great love is João, a doctor who is often on humanitarian missions.
It is precisely when he returns from a season in the Amazon Forest that he proposes, for an expected YES! However, the couple’s happiness is shaken: João’s grandfather suffers a stroke and during the engagement dinner party, following a robbery, his pregnant sister is fatally shot and killed.
In a poor neighborhood, Inês’ sister Marta, who everyone thinks died in the river, is now called Diana, after being found in the woods and adopted by a new family. The shock of the accident caused her to lose her memory but in her mind, there is a constant discomfort. Diana is a beautiful woman, with a thirst for money and power, neglecting the environment in which she has been raised. When she recovers her memory, she will go search for her biological family, in particular Inês, who she blames for what happened to her in the past.
Diana will try to destroy her sister and regain the life that never got to live through material goods, and even steal Inês’ fiancée. From here on, her main goal will be only one: revenge!

The 39th Edition of the International Emmys from International Academy of television arts and Sciences of the United States, awarded “Blood Ties” with the Emmy for the Best Telenovela. “Blood Ties”, a co-production of SIC and TV Globo, competed with “Destiny River” - TV Globo, “Contra las Cuerdas” - Argentina's public television, and “Impostor”, - Precious Hearts Romances Philippines.
