Mrs. Hope is a charismatic octogenarian widow, living alone in a pleasant apartment in Lisbon along with her cat Baltazar, since her husband died, years ago.
Mrs. Hope is not like some other older people. She likes ballroom dancing, aqua aerobics sports and from time to time visiting the neighborhood chapel to say goodbye to her old fellows who passed away letting escape some less orthodox comments that make laugh even the most serious.
She had two sons, but only one is alive - Artur. He is married with Leonor and together they have a son Rodrigo, a wild teenager and the only Mrs. Hope grandson.
Herminia is her best friend, but her truly fellow is Paulina, a bold Angolan woman, mother of the teenager Joyce that Mrs. Hope considers as her goddaughter.
Mrs. Hope is the only “official” resident in this building, since the landlord decide to rent the remaining apartments for tourists. Since her house is now too spacious for her, and maybe looking for some company, Mrs. Hope decides to rent one of the bedrooms to her niece Joana, a young lawyer that is moving to Lisbon.
After a peculiar and unexpected situation with Sérgio, the building administrator and owner’s nephew, Mrs. Hope sees herself charged of aggression and Joana will end up being her lawyer.
Besides all the troubles she is getting in, Mrs. Hope will also deal with the ambitions of her son and daughter in law. They both want to convince her to accept a financial agreement with her landlord in exchange of leaving the house where she lives for over 50 years. But Mrs. Hope will show her strength and boldness to everyone’s despair.
The approach of Mrs. Hope and António, the building owner, will reveal a story buried years ago that none of them are ready to live.This is already a love story. A funny and special one.
